|
What are the costs and what does it cover? |
| • |
There are two parts to the cost. |
| • |
First is the "Disney Experience" portion, which includes all ground
transportation while in town, hotel accommodations, meals or food vouchers, a reception, Disney Park Hopper passes,
rehearsal t-shirts and a souvenir uniform sash. |
| • |
Second is the transportation to Orlando, FL. Car pooling will be the most
economical way to get to Orlando, however, our travel partner will supply an online booking engine where participants will
be able to book airline tickets and rental cars over the internet. In addition, our travel partner will have a customer
service department available to answer questions and take reservations over the phone if necessary. |
|
How many days will a member need to be in Orlando? |
| • |
4 Days and 3 Nights |
| • |
Participants should arrive at the hotel no later than 9:00pm Thursday, December
1st, 2005. On Thursday evening there will be a Corps Orientation Meeting. |
| • |
Friday, December 2nd and Saturday, December 3rd will include rehearsals,
performances and tapings. |
| • |
There will be plenty of "park time" and other social events. |
| • |
The Thursday through Saturday commitment is required. Sunday will be a free day
to enjoy as the member wishes. |
|
What is "in-town or ground transportation?" |
| • |
Airport shuttles to the hotel will be available as part of the package. |
| • |
Once on Disney property, Disney transportation will be utilized along with
designated charter busses. Those wishing to drive their own vehicle will park at the hotel and then transport with the
unit to those functions requiring that the group stay together (rehearsals and performances). |
|
What are the uniform needs? |
| • |
Brass and percussion will be asked to wear their corps
uniform. Participants will need to coordinate with their own member corps to make the necessary arrangements for providing
a uniform and head gear. Members should bring the necessary shoes; gloves and undergarments appropriate to complete the
look as the tradition of the organization dictates. |
| • |
Color guard will be asked to bring undergarments and shoes. A unitard-type
uniform will be provided for participants once sizes are established. |
| • |
All participants will be presented with an All-Star sash, which will be
theirs to keep. |
| • |
Color guard participants will not wear the All-Star sashes but will be
given one to keep as a souvenir. Guard uniforms will be returned to DCI. |
|
Do members need to bring their own equipment? |
| • |
Brass and percussion equipment will be borrowed from other corps (logistics to
be worked out). |
| • |
Color guard equipment will be provided. |
|
What if my staff, family or I would like to come along? |
| • |
Yes – they can come! |
| • |
In order to keep participant costs low, everyone will need to pay for his or her
own trip. However, those in a staff capacity will be offered the member rate. |
| • |
Please provide DCI the names of interested staff members by August. |
| • |
Family and friends are encouraged to come and enjoy the parks, receptions and
other festivities. Disney will provide a package for those that wish to join in on the fun. There will also be
opportunities to extend the stay should that be a desire. |
|
How will the selection process work? |
| • |
Step One: Give DCI a list of your top 10%. These members must participate
in your corps on the 2005 tour, and must be 18 years of age on December 1st, 2005. |
| • |
Step Two: Once the lists' are received, the DCI office compiles the names
and sections. From there, a "corps draft" is developed. In July, we will be in touch with directors should we need to
push/pull sections to keep a balanced ensemble. |
| • |
Step Three: In August, we will present each director with a list of
"finalists." Changes can be made at this point to accommodate a member who dropped out of the corps or another member that
wishes to be considered for a spot. The participant list should be firm by the end of the world championships week. |
| • |
Step Four: During the presentation of the high DM trophies', DCI and
Disney will launch/explain the Disney/DCI All-Star Corps program to the audience by awarding those DM's with an
all-expenses paid trip to be the conductors for the All-Star corps. In addition, the DCI Division I "Director of the Year"
will be honored with an all-expenses paid trip and will preside as the director of the 2005 Disney / DCI All-Star Corps. |
| • |
Step Five: After championships, invitations will be printed and sent to
those selected members. |
|
How will registration and travel be done? |
| • |
Once a member decides to accept a position into the All-Star Corps, they will be
asked to work with DCI and the travel agent in making all necessary arrangements. |
| • |
Monies need to be collected up-front and members should be prepared to have a
good portion, if not all, of the trip paid for by October 1st so that we know where we have holes and can respond
accordingly. |
| • |
Monies will be paid directly to the Disney agents, so members should adhere to
cancellation policies that are presented to them upon registration. |
|
How will music and guard work be distributed? |
| • |
Once a member registers, they will be given access to a web connection, which
will house all of the musical parts. |
| • |
The color guard will have video footage of their work as well. |
| • |
It is expected that all parts will be performance ready upon arrival in Orlando. |
